View EF directors

Unisphere supports the display of EF director information.

About this task

For a storage system running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079), a new OR emulation has been added to replace all previous Open System Front End and RDF emulations. The system hardware view for a storage system running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079) has an OR DIRECTORS tab, a BE DIRECTORS tab, an EF DIRECTORS tab, and an EM DIRECTORS tab.

EF directors support 32Gb FICON on storage systems running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079).

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select System > Hardware.
  3. Click the EF Directors tab.

    The EF Directors list view opens. Use this view to view and manage the EF directors.

    The following properties display:

    Director Director name.
    Port Port number.
    Director Status Director status.
    Port Status Indicates whether the port is online or offline.
    Alerts Director alert status, as indicated by icon color:
    • Fatal icon One or more fatal alerts
    • Critical icon One or more critical alerts, with none higher
    • Warning icon One or more warning alerts, with none higher
    • Information icon One or more informational alerts, with none higher
    • No alerts icon No alerts

    To see more information about the details and performance of a director, select a director and click Details icon.

    The following properties display in the Details tab:

    Director Director name.
    Type Type.
    Director Status Director status.
    Director Numeric Number Director numeric number
    Director Engine Number Director engine number
    Director Slot Number Director slot number
    Number of Director Ports Number of associated protocols. Clicking the number next to Protocols results in the display of information about the protocol properties and performance of the protocols.

    Performance information is also displayed in the Performance tab.

    The following properties for the port (associated with the director) display in the Details tab:

    Director Director name.
    Director Connection Status Director connection status.
    Port Number of Ports.
    Port Status Indicates whether the port is online or offline.
    Port ID Port identity.
    Negotiated Speed (Gb/sec) Negotiated speed in gigabits per second.
    Max Speed (Gb/sec) Maximum speed in gigabits per second.
    Split Director name.

    Performance information is also displayed in the Performance tab.

    The following controls are available:

    • Online—Sets the port to be online.
    • Offline—Sets the port to be offline.
